Bead Crochet
Adding beads to your crochet
projects can produce awesome results. Beads can be crocheted into each
stitch as you go along, or sewn on later.
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
To crochet a bead into each stitch as you go along - Begin by
deciding how many beads you will need for the pattern you are
visualizing.
-
String the beads on to the crochet thread (beading needle or twisted
wire needle with large eye for small beads) or yarn (tapestry needle
for larger beads). If you are using a large number of beads, it
is easier to string on one row at a time, cutting the yarn after each
row, and weaving in the yarn ends later.
-
Insert the crochet hook into the back loop of the stitch, yarn over
the hook, draw yarn through, which leaves two loops on the hook.
Slide a bead up close to the two loops, yarn over the hook, draw yarn
through both loops, which holds the bead in place.
-
To sew beads onto a finished
crochet piece - So that the sewing blends into your piece, use the
leftover tails of crochet thread or yarn that you crocheted your piece
with. Sew beads on with a half cross-stitch ( / ).
